Different products create different packaging risks. Snacks may need aroma retention and a clean zipper seal; fertilizer and chemical powders may need stronger moisture control; frozen food may need a structure that remains practical at low temperature. The right bag is a complete system, not simply the thickest film.
Select Each Layer for a Defined Function
Printing layer - PET, BOPP or PA. These films support brand graphics, product information, barcodes and coordinated SKU layouts. Artwork must account for seams, gussets, zippers, handles and the finished shape.
Barrier layer - PA, aluminum foil or VMPET. A selected barrier film can be reviewed for oxygen, light, aroma, oil or external-humidity control. The required level depends on the product and distribution route.
Heat-sealing layer - PE or CPP. The inner layer is selected for the filling process, seal temperature, seal width and product-contact conditions. Top and bottom closure still require validation with the filled pack.
Three-side sealed and flat bags suit compact retail packs and line filling. Stand-up pouches add shelf presence and can include a zipper, tear notch or hanging hole. Gusseted and eight-side seal formats provide more volume or a defined base. Handle holes or reinforced handles can be reviewed for cat litter, pet food, fertilizer and household products; attachment, film strength and filled weight should be tested together. Laminated PE liners can also be inserted into PP woven bags, BOPP laminated woven bags or FIBC jumbo bags for added moisture or leakage control.
Laminated bags are used for dry, semi-dry and selected frozen products. Common applications include:
Food and ingredients. Snacks, seasonings, noodles, dried or frozen foods, cooked foods, fish, meat and other ready-to-sell packs, subject to the approved contact configuration.
Pet products. Cat litter, pet snacks, small pet-food packs and selected pet-care products can use zipper, stand-up, handle or reinforced formats.
Agriculture and fertilizer. Water-soluble fertilizer, micronutrient fertilizer, powder fertilizer and agricultural products can be matched with a thicker film, barrier layer or PE liner.
Chemical, plastic and household products. Chemical powders, additives, color masterbatch, plastic granules, cleaning products and daily-use items can be reviewed for a laminated bag or liner bag.
Multi-layer film generally provides better moisture resistance than a plain single-layer PE bag, but performance depends on film selection, seal width and temperature, zipper design, gussets, bottom folds and transport handling. The finished bag should not be described as automatically airtight, leakproof or fully waterproof without an order-specific test.
For fine powders or moisture-sensitive products, an inserted PE liner or laminated-and-woven structure can be considered. Liner opening, thickness, venting and attachment must suit the filling and closing equipment. Food, feed, chemical or regulated use requires confirmation of the exact contact layer and destination-market requirements.
Gravure printing suits detailed multi-color artwork and product photography. Flexographic printing or digital proofing can be considered for simpler graphics, small runs or sampling. Printing method, color count, plate or cylinder requirement and print area are confirmed after artwork and structure review.
Prepare artwork on the final dieline so seams, zippers, handles, gussets and folds do not interrupt text or images. Barcodes and QR codes need suitable size, contrast, quiet zones and a reasonably flat panel. Approve the printed sample under the intended scanning conditions before volume production.
