Flour behaves differently from whole grain. Fine particles can migrate through weave gaps, stitching or an unsuitable mouth, while displaced air affects filling speed and shape. A tighter weave or coating reduces passage through the outer layer; an inserted PE liner creates a separate barrier. Liner presentation, top seal, bottom seam and deaeration must contain powder without trapping excessive air.
Moisture exposure is another design input. A plain woven outer sack may be suitable for a short, dry route when the flour is already contained by an approved inner layer. Longer transport or humid storage may justify a liner or laminated construction. The final choice should be checked through a trial fill and storage review rather than selected from surface appearance alone.
Some projects use the woven bag as an outer sack around a liner; others place a specified inner layer in direct contact with flour. State the contact layer, filling temperature, destination and required documents. Recycled PP, mixed material or CaCO3-based options, where offered, are limited to buyer-approved outer or non-direct-contact applications and cannot replace the approved contact material without written authorization.
Straight-cut, zigzag-cut and hemmed tops are available with single- or double-folded stitched bottoms. Additional cutting or hot-melt closing options can be reviewed after compatibility with the selected bag construction and equipment is confirmed. Mouth width should fit the filling spout and allow the liner to remain correctly positioned. A narrow opening can interrupt filling; an oversized bag can produce a slack, poorly shaped package that stacks unevenly.
Flour grades differ in bulk density, so nominal capacity cannot determine size by itself. Send a current filled sample or complete a trial on the actual line before approving new dimensions. Anti-slip treatment may be evaluated when pallet movement is a concern, with performance checked against the chosen surface and stack pattern.
Flexographic printing is economical for a logo, flour type, net weight, lot-code field and straightforward handling information. BOPP laminated flour bags are better suited to detailed colors, photographic artwork and strong retail identification. The buyer supplies the approved barcode, ingredient or nutrition panel and market-specific legal copy.
