Pet food packaging must identify the product quickly and keep a family of SKUs visually consistent. BOPP-laminated woven PP combines a durable carrying structure with a printable film surface suited to photographs, illustrations, flavor cues, product benefits, and required copy. It is particularly useful for branded dog food and cat food ranges that need more graphic detail than basic direct printing on woven fabric.
Artwork should be developed on the finished-bag dieline because side folds, seams, the bag mouth, and the bottom fold can interrupt important content. XH Packaging can review the proposed placement of the logo, pet image, barcode, net weight, and variable SKU information before print approval. The buyer should supply the final barcode file and test a printed production sample with the scanners used in its warehouse and retail channels.
Retail Size Planning
Pet food ranges may be planned around 1 kg, 2 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 15 kg, 20 kg, and 25 kg pack sizes. These are planning examples, not one set of standard bag dimensions. Kibble size, bulk density, required headspace, and the way the filled pack settles determine the finished width and length. The feasibility of 1 kg and 2 kg woven formats should be confirmed from the exact construction and a sample before they are added to a final order.
Larger Woven-Bag Range
The broader woven-bag manufacturing range covers 10–100 kg capacities, 30–120 cm widths, and 40–110 gsm fabric. This wider range is relevant to larger pet food packs and animal-nutrition applications, but capacity alone does not define a suitable bag. A filled sample or the product's bulk density gives the most reliable basis for sizing each retail or bulk format.
Plain woven PP is practical when carrying strength and straightforward identification are the main priorities. BOPP-laminated woven PP is better suited to consumer-facing packs that need detailed graphics. PE coating or an inserted liner can be evaluated for fine products, humid storage, or extended distribution. The bag mouth, seams, liner arrangement, and closing method must be considered with the outer material because they influence the performance of the complete pack.
Food-contact and labeling requirements vary by product and destination. Buyers should state any material declaration, migration test, or market-specific document required for the agreed structure when requesting a quotation. This allows the material combination and required documentation to be confirmed before production rather than relying on a general food-grade claim.
For manual, semi-automatic, or automatic packing, the opening, top clearance, length tolerance, filling spout, and closing method need to work together. Straight-cut, zigzag-cut, and hemmed tops are available within the product options. Bottoms can be single- or double-folded with single or double stitching. The final arrangement should be approved on a sample using the buyer's actual product and equipment.
For printed projects, provide editable artwork, color references, final copy, and barcode files. Gravure or flexographic printing can be selected according to the design and bag construction, with up to eight colors available subject to artwork review. The approved order can also define checks for dimensions, fabric weight, print appearance, lamination, stitching, and bundle quantity.

Share your SKU plan, product details, and shelf artwork with XH Packaging. We will organize the common and size-specific requirements, review the bag structure and print layout, and prepare the selected formats for sample and filling-line approval.
These sizes can be developed as custom woven formats, subject to construction and filled-sample approval. Suitability depends on the kibble, bag dimensions, material construction and closing method. Send the bulk density, target dimensions, artwork and closure details to prepare a filled sample.
BOPP lamination suits retail packs needing detailed images, consistent colors, product information, and a smooth branded surface. Plain woven PP may be sufficient for simpler trade packaging. Share the sales channel, storage route, artwork, and protection needs to select the structure.
Yes, a PE liner or PE coating can provide more protection from ambient moisture or fine-particle escape. The best option depends on the product, bag mouth, closure, storage time, and climate. Send these details and test the selected arrangement with the actual pet food.
Place the barcode on a flat panel with the correct size, contrast, orientation and a compliant quiet zone. Readability also depends on the code file, surface and scanner. Supply final artwork and test the printed sample with your warehouse and retail scanners.
We can quote several sizes and print versions as one project. MOQ, plate costs, and timing vary with construction, artwork, quantity, and SKU count. Send each net weight, dimensions or sample, material choice, artwork, barcode, quantity, filling method, and destination market.
